Standards for Sustainability

Hobart and Sustainable Design

Well before "Sustainable Design" became an international movement, Hobart was making strides toward becoming an industry leader. Designing our equipment to be more energy efficient, consuming less water and less electricity in the production process, turning paved land into green spaces around our facilities. It's an environmentally sound approach to manufacturing. But just as important, it's a fiscally sound approach to improving our operational efficiency, as well as our customers.

Our Sustainable Goal.
A goal is only as good as the people behind it. That's why we've challenged every level of our company, at every facility, to drive Sustainable Design from the inside out. We work with our vendors, we work with our customers and most importantly, we work with each other to continually assess every step of the manufacturing process-from product research to a product's entire life cycle. Sustainable History.
In 1992, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S.

Department of Energy (DOE) launched their ENERGY STAR program. Traulsen refrigerators, freezers and hot-food holding cabinets were among the first foodservice equipment awarded the star. In 2007, Hobart warewashers also earned the ENERGY STAR.

In 2006, Hobart became the first full-line food equipment manufacturer to join the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit organization of companies, architectural firms, contractors and others committed to promoting the design, construction and manufacturing of buildings and equipment that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.

Hobart is the first full-line food equipment manufacturer with professionals accredited in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification process to help you build for and measure your sustainable designs.

And in 2009, ITW Food Equipment Group (FEG)—the parent organization of Hobart, Traulsen and other independent companies serving the foodservice and food retail markets—was named ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year, for the second consecutive year.

Our Sustainable Future.
As technology brings new opportunities into focus, Hobart will remain committed to exploring each and every one to improve our reliability and sustainability.
