Hobart Announces School Grant Winner of New Food Prep Equipment

TROY, Ohio (July 27, 2022) – Hobart, the premium commercial food equipment manufacturer known for designing and building some of the most reliable, must-have equipment, is excited to announce that Victor Central Schools, in Victor, New York, is the winner of a recent equipment grant. Hobart provided the grant by participating in an opportunity with the School Nutrition Foundation.

Victor Central Schools received the grant based on several criteria, including a demonstrated need for new equipment and its intentions to incorporate more from-scratch food offerings into their school nutrition program.

“Due to this grant, we will be able to provide a wider variety of freshly processed fruits, vegetables and meats to our students,” says Alexandra TePoel-DeWitt, director of food services for Victor Central Schools. “We have purchasing relationships with local farms, and with new food prep equipment, we’ll be able expedite the complex production of those items. This fresh food is important to support well-nourished students and their ability to focus and learn well.”

TePoel-DeWitt selected a Hobart HS9 slicer to process whole deli meats and a Hobart 84186 food cutter for fruits and vegetables. The equipment will be placed in the senior high school central kitchen, allowing them to prepare food for the rest of the district. Its total value is approximately $20,000.
